LUGOFF - Funeral service for Eugene “Gene” Hastings, 59, will be held Friday at 4:00 p.m. at Lugoff First Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Greg Sweet will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Mr. Hastings died Tuesday, May 4, 2010. Born in Chester, he was a son of the late John Marshall and Mary Ross Hastings. He retired from the City of Camden where he was a safety and technical supervisor. He was a Mason and a member of Kershaw Lodge #29 and a member of the Elks Lodge #2603. Mr. Hastings was a member of Lugoff First Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Ann Nesbitt “Libby” Hastings; children, Gene (Fran) Hastings, Jr. of Columbia, Sabrina (Donny) Wright of Camden, Chase Hastings of the home, and Raime Hastings of the home; brothers, Bobby (Lynn) Hastings of Texas, and John Hastings, Jr. of Elgin; sister, Marion (Robert) Mathis of North Carolina; grandchildren, Donavan (Cheyenne) Wright and Jesse Wright; and a great-grandson, Braylen Wright.
