ELGIN-Funeral service with military honors for Bobby Eugene Martin, 79, will be held Monday at 1:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home with burial to follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. Rev. Dr. Dan Griffin will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 647 Lachicotte Road, Lugoff, S.C. 29078. Mr. Martin died Thursday, May 6, 2010. Born in Giles County, Va., he was a son of the late Irvin Chapman and Edna Virginia Price Martin. He retired as Master Sergeant from the United States Army after 27 years of service having served 3 tours in Vietnam. He was a decorated veteran. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rites and enjoyed bowling. Surviving are his wife, Gladys Stockman Martin; son, Bobby G. Martin of West Columbia; brother, Billy Martin of Maine; and sisters, Doris Watts of Virginia Beach, Va., Clara Lee Becker of Stafford, Va., and Alice “Sandy” Martin of Alexandria, Va.
