Obituary of Fred Johnson
CAMDEN - A celebration of life service for Rev. Fred Johnson, 87, will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Camden. Rev. Bruce Hancock and Rev. Don Ingle will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship center. Rev. Johnson died Friday, August 6, 2010. Born in Lancaster County, he was a son of the late Fred and Agnes Wadford Johnson. He served in the United States Army and Navy during WW II. He retired as a Baptist minister having served churches in North Carolina and South Carolina. He was a graduate of Wingate University. In the early 1970s, he began teaching shop at the Junior Vocation School in Kershaw County and retired as Shop Teacher from Camden Middle School.
Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Ruth Roland King Johnson; daughters and sons-in-law, Gayle (Norm) Wiseman of Greenwood, and Nancy (Don) Aycock of Camden; grandchildren, Jennifer W. (Wade) Bales of Bluffton, Daniel Wiseman of Asheville, N.C., Emily Aycock of Columbia, Catherine Aycock of Mt. Pleasant, and Derek Aycock of Richmond, Va.; great-grandchildren, Charles Wade, Jackson, Harrison and Anna Lauren Bales, all of Bluffton, and Eden Wiseman of Asheville, N.C. He was predeceased by sisters, “Skeet” McKeithan, Ginny McManus, and Verlin Chapman.
