Obituary of Marian R. Lang
LAKE WATEREE – A memorial service for Marian Rodgers Lang, 85, will be held Thursday at 4:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Rev. Vince Halter will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Lang died Sunday, September 5, 2010. Born in Salisbury, N.C., she was a daughter of the late James Barr and Mary Nichols Rodgers. A graduate of Boyden High School in Salisbury, N.C., she attended Woman’s College at UNC in Greensboro and graduated Nursing School at Garfield Memorial Hospital, Washington, D.C. After traveling all over the U.S. and the world (especially the Far East), she and the family settled in South Carolina, eventually retiring to Lake Wateree. She attended Liberty Hill Presbyterian Church Lakeside Service. She was a member of Trenholm Artist Guild in Columbia, and the Ladies of Lake Wateree.
Surviving are her husband of 64 years, Lt. Col. Donald J. Lang, USAF (Ret.); sons, Donald J. Lang, Jr., and his wife, Susan, and Kevin J. Lang and his wife, Chris; daughters, Carol Lang Webb and her husband, Michael, and Lisa Lang Sandel and her husband, Billy; sister, Laura Barringer of Mooresville, N.C.; brother, James Rodgers of Clemson, S.C.; grandchildren, Peter J. Lang, Michael J. Lang, Stephanie Judy, Joey Prater, David Sandel, and Kyle Sandel; great-grandchildren, Keanan Judy and Amberlyn Judy; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sister, Sarah Rowe.
