Obituary of Oliver William Ward
LUGOFF – A memorial service for Oliver William Ward, 89, will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home with burial to follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. Rev. Wayne Flowers and Rev. Todd Horton will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
Mr. Ward died Friday, November 5, 2010. Born in Annapolis, Md., he was the son of the late William and Magie Higgs Ward. He served in the United States Army during WW II and was a member of the D.A.V. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and hunting.
Surviving are his wife, Annie Elizabeth Dean Ward; sons, Oliver W. Ward, Jr. of Maryland and Walter Ward of Maryland; daughters, Joy Walder of Maryland and Diane Anthony of Maryland; step-daughter, Margie Rabon of Lugoff; step-sons, Houston Godbolt, Jr. of Lugoff and John William Godbolt of Cassatt; sister, Joan Mason; numerous grandchildren; step-grandchildren, Michael Branham, Ashley Ray, Brandon Godbolt, John Ray Godbolt, and Tony Rabon; and numerous great grandchildren.
