COLUMBIA – Funeral service for Velma Johnson Jones, 75, will be held Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home with burial to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park Serenity Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday 2:00 -3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Mrs. Jones, wife of the late Herbert Jones, died Wednesday, June 19, 2013. Born in St. Paul, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Rudolph Campbell and Edna Bennett Johnson. She retired from South Carolina National Bank where she was a trust officer. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading and spending time at the beach. Surviving are her son, David Randell Gray; daughters, Kathy Gray Johnson and Gina Gray Watkins (Tom); sister, Lois Grant; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Victor Morris “Chip” Gray Jr.; and brother, William Johnson.
