LUGOFF - Funeral service for Betty Jean Parnell, 74, will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home with burial to follow in Lugoff First Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Richard Cameron and Rev. Donnie Dixon will officate. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 647 Lachicotte Rd., Lugoff, S.C. 29078. Mrs. Parnell, wife of the late Joe E. Parnell, died Sunday, December 30, 2007. Born in Florence, she was a daughter of the late Willie Judson and Adelaide Hewitt Weaver. She retired from Standard and Sandhill Warehouse as a data entry operator after 27 years of service. She was a former member of First Baptist Church, Lugoff, where she was a GA Director and Sunday School Teacher. She was a founding member of Fellowship Baptist Church. She was grandmother to a lot of people and will be greatly missed. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Juwan P. Crolley and John Crolley Jr. of Virginia; son, Joey Parnell and his companion, Shirley Britt of Lugoff; grandchildren, John Crolley III and Jason P. Crolley of Virginia, Rebecca Parnell, Luke Parnell, and Josh Parnell of Lugoff; great-grandchildren, Haley and Paul Grabade of Elgin; sisters, Willie J. Martin, Dorothy Clark and her husband, Clayton, and Lurleen Ballentine and her husband Jack, all of Columbia. The family expresses great appreciation to Dr. William Butler, Dusty and Ann, the staff of Palmetto Health Hospice, and the nurses on 11th Floor Oncology at Palmetto Health Richland for their loving care.
