LUGOFF – Funeral service for Joseph T. “Joe” O’Neal Jr., 66, will be held at a later date in Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Agape Hospice, Kershaw County. Mr. O’Neal died Monday, July 11, 2011. Born in Marseilles, Ill., he was the son of the late Joseph T. and Viola Rafferty O’Neal. He served in the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War. He was a former employee of Whiting Metal and retired from Mid-Carolina Steel. He enjoyed woodworking, boating, and watching NASCAR. Surviving are his wife of 5 years, Susan Harvey O’Neal; daughters, Bonnie Murphy (Mark) of Charlotte, N.C., and Chris Close of Marseilles, Ill.; step-daughter, Jessica Mischner (Will) of New York City, N.Y.; sisters, Susie Sthil (Keith), Sandy Thomas (Brian), Debbie Boaz (Bruce); 7 grandchildren; uncle, Chuck Rafferty; and numerous nieces and nephews.
