Obituary of Henry. B. Williams
LUGOFF – A memorial service for Henry Butler “Hank” Williams, Jr., 87, will be held Sunday at 6:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Operation Legacy 100th Infantry Division, PO Box 932, Lexington, Va. 24450-9983.
Mr. Williams died Wednesday, July 27, 2011. He was predeceased by his first wife Jean Louise Williams in 1993 and his second wife, Margaret Funderburk Williams in January of 2011. Born in New York, N.Y., he was a son of the late Henry B. and Helen Marie Striffler Williams. He served in WW II in the United States Army. As a dedicated soldier, he continued to keep the 100th Infantry Division closely connected through a newsletter he helped organize. The 100th Infantry Division/PFC H.B. Williams scholarship was established at Fort Jackson in his honor.
He formerly worked for Rockwell International and retired as vice-president of Marketing with Porta-Nails Inc. in Wilmington, N.C. He was a member of the Golden Club, Engineers Club of Camden, and the Jazz Society of Columbia.
Surviving are his sons, Henry B. Williams III of Lugoff, Robert C. Williams of Lugoff, and Gary Williams and his wife, Carole of West Columbia; daughters, Susan L. Williams of Camden and Nancy J. McNulty and her husband, Patrick of Charlotte, N.C.; brothers, Edward S. Williams and his wife, Annette, and Peter D. Williams; grandchildren, Hagan Williams, Luther Williams, David George, and Michael George; and numerous nieces and a nephew.
