COLUMBIA – A Memorial Mass for James Roger “Frog” Layden, 54, will be celebrated on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at St. John Neumann Catholic Church. Father Sandy McDonald will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Mr. Layden died Monday, August 15, 2011, after a battle with cancer. Born in San Antonio, Texas, he was the son of Doris Ann Gall Layden and the late James Francis Layden. He was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church. He was a sports enthusiast who loved golfing, softball, bowling and the Carolina Gamecocks. Surviving are his daughter, Jessica Layden (Rodney Baskin) of Cassatt; mother, Doris Layden of Columbia; brothers, Patrick Layden (Greg), and Michael Layden; sisters, Kathleen Morris (John), Christine Fowler (Michael), and Linda Hendrix (Dale Hamilton); a grandson, Rylan James Baskin; and 7 nieces and 1 nephew and a great nephew. The family extends a special thank you to Heartstrings Hospice for their wonderful care during the last two weeks of his life.
