Obituary of Philip S. Boykin

CAMDEN – Funeral service for Philip Stanly Boykin, 66, will be held Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. William Allen will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday 1:30 – 3:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Sacks of Love c/o Mt. Olivet Baptist Church. Mr. Boykin died Thursday, September 22, 2011. Born in Sumter, he was a son of Vida Ree Davis Boykin and the late Willis LeRoy Boykin. He served in the United States Marine Corp in Vietnam and retired from DuPont after 32 years of service. He was an avid Gamecock fan and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and sports. Spending time with his grandchildren is what he enjoyed most. Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Patricia L. “Patsy Boykin; his mother, Vida Boykin of Bishopville; sons, Jeff Boykin (Leslie) of Summerville and Matt Boykin (Jessica) of Camden; brothers, John Boykin (Carlene) of Spring Hill, Mitch Boykin of Spring Hill, and Dwight Boykin (Lynn) of Murrells Inlet; and grandchildren, Wyatt Boykin, Garrett Boykin, and Isabelle Boykin. He was predeceased by a sister-in-law, Rudell Boykin.
