Obituary of Charles C. Cameron

CAMDEN - Funeral services for Charles C. Cameron will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff with burial to follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The Rev. Richard Cameron and the Rev. Tim Shirley will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday 3-5 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the American Cancer Society. Mr. Cameron died Wednesday, September 28, 2011. Born in Camden, he was the son of the late Thomas Charles Cameron and Hester Elizabeth Baker Cameron. He served in the U.S. Army as a staff sergeant and served in WW II. He retired from Burns Hardware in Camden after 40 years. He was a member of Wateree Baptist Church, the VFW, the American Legion, the History Channel Club, and the Major League Baseball Club. He enjoyed photography. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Williams “Jimmy” Cameron, and Norman Cameron; sister, Margaret Elizabeth Norris, and Mary Estelle Cameron.
