VENTURA, CALIF. – Funeral service for Rev. Wendell Wayne Rhodes, 78, will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, with burial to follow in Ridgeway Cemetery in Centerville, S.C. The family will receive friends Tuesday 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association. Mr. Rhodes died Sunday, November 27, 2011. Born in West Virginia, he was a son of Dolleta Francis Hendrick Rhodes and the late Joseph Weldon Rhodes. He served in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the Eastern Conference of Freewill Baptist Ministers and the last church he pastured was Freedom Freewill Baptist Church in Ladson, S.C. He was a member of Columbia Freewill Baptist Church, Columbia, S.C. Surviving are his wife, Eunice Gladys Stanley Rhodes; son, Stanley Rhodes; daughter, Pamela Susan Rhodes Strother; grandchildren, Stanley Rocky Rhodes, Shyanne Beacom, Amber Robertshaw; mother of Lugoff; brothers, Eugene W. Rhodes of Lugoff, and Rev. Jerry Rhodes and his wife, Wanda of Gastonia, N.C.; sisters, Susan Roepke and her husband Arthur of Elgin, and Jane Martin and her husband, Randall of Lugoff; and sister-in-law, Daisy Rhodes of Lugoff. He was predeceased by a brother, Rev. Nelson Rhodes.
