CASSATT – Funeral service for Florence M. Newman, 99, will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, with burial to follow in Scotch Cemetery, Bethune. The Rev. Raymond Sellers will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Midlands Center, 8301 Farrow Road, Columbia, S.C. Mrs. Newman, wife of the late William Roland Newman, died Friday, December 30, 2011. Born in Bethune, she was the daughter of the late William Alex and Florence Hunter McDonald. She retired from Nursing and enjoyed people, animals and horseback riding. Surviving are her sons, William R. “Bill” Newman Jr. (Sandra) of Florence, David Wayne Newman (Valarie) of Lugoff, and Sandy Michael Newman (Deborah) of Cassatt; daughter, Susan Enlow (Doug) of Columbia; 13 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister and 2 brothers.
