CAMDEN – Funeral Service for Gerald Lewis “Jerry” Simpson, 67, will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Keith Coates will officiate. The family will receive friends Tuesday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Memorials may be made to KershawHealth Hospice or DeKalb Baptist Church. Mr. Simpson died Sunday, July 28, 2013. Born in Chester, he was the son of the late E.C. “Snooky” and Emma Lewis Simpson. He worked for Fluor Daniels Construction, the Town of Winnsboro, and retired from KershawHealth Hospital. He most recently worked for Carolina Motor Sports Park. He was a Mason. Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Beverly Jean Pitts Simpson; daughter, Brandon “Brandi” Simpson of Camden; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Zimmerman, Polly Parker and Sarah Peake; brother-in-law, Billy Pitts; and his companions, Dempsey and Scooter. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Jim and Nettie Lewis; and paternal grandparents, Ernest and Mattie Simpson.
