I am saddened by the loss of this wonderful, loving man and sorry that I am unable to attend his celebration of life today!
Pete Ray took me under his arm back in the early 1980's...mentored me as a songwriter...and was responsible for me moving to Nashville. His musical influence remains in me, my wife Linda, and my daughters Hillary and Rylee.
My thoughts and prayers are with Nona, Peter and the entire "Ray" family.

Nonie,
I was talking to the President of the South Strand Shag club in Murrells Inlets last weekend and we were reminising about the good times we had when I was teaching Shag classes @ the Bue Marlin for Y''all back in the 80"s. Pete held a special place in my heart and always had a smle and a song for everyone. I'll never forget He was the Crossing Guard for the Camden Police @ Camden Grammer School and helped us across Lyttleton street intersection when we were small . He always made us feel safe and had a smile for us kids. Pete was a gentle, caring , talented Southern gentleman, He will surely be missed.
