Obituary of James Riley Hyatt
ELGIN – Funeral service for James Riley “Po Boy” Hyatt, 86, will be held Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. The Rev. Jeff Grubbs will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Hyatt died Saturday, March 17, 2012. Born in Indian Springs, Tenn., he was the son of the late Samuel and Bertha Hite Hyatt. He served in the United States Navy during WW II and retired from Binswanger Glass Company. He enjoyed fishing and his animals.
Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Mary Arizona Hill Hyatt; daughters, Shirley Aston (J.R.) of Kingsport, Tenn., Linda Youmans (Lee Schetrompf) of Camden, Cathy Gregory (John) of Elgin, and Ramona Smith (Steve Keen) of Gaston; sons, Sammy Hyatt of Elgin, and Tommy Hyatt (Barbara) of Columbia; sister, Janice Litz of Blountville, Tenn.; 17 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Danny Lee Hyatt.
