LUGOFF – Funeral service for David Wayne Newman, 65, will be held Friday at 12:00 p.m. at DeKalb Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday 5-7 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to DeKalb Baptist Church. Mr. Newman died Wednesday, August 7, 2013. Born in Sumter, he was the son of the late William Roland and Florence McDonald Newman. Surviving are his wife, Valerie Baker Newman; children, David Gregory Newman (Tracy), Steven Sanderson, Christopher Newman, and Amanda Sanderson; brothers, Bill Newman (Sandra) and Mike Newman (Deborah); sister, Susan Newman (Doug Enlow); 3 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
