LUGOFF – Funeral service for Marlene Francis Taylor Dixon, 81, will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Friendship Baptist Church with burial to follow in Malvern Baptist Church Cemetery, Camden. The Rev. Matt Galloway and Rev. Jimmy Atkerson will officiate. The family will receive friends Monday 10:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the service in the church fellowship hall. Memorials may be made to Friendship Baptist Church, 1056 Hwy 1 South, Lugoff, S.C. 29078. Mrs. Dixon died Saturday, July 07, 2012. Born in Camden, she was a daughter of the late Perry F. and Irene Conyers Taylor. She was a charter member of Friendship Baptist Church where she was the first choir director, taught Sunday School, was a member of the Valerie Winburn Sunday School Class and had a nursing home ministry. Mrs. Dixon was a devoted Christian and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed crafts and having her family come to her home after church every Sunday. Surviving are her husband of 64 years, David Clarence “Bill” Dixon, Jr.; sons, Rev. Donnie Dixon (Peggy) of Lugoff, Ronnie Dixon of Lugoff, and Larry Dixon (Elaine) of Lugoff; sister, Nancy Walters (Allen) of Lancaster; brother, Richard Taylor of Gerton, N.C.; grandchildren, Kevin Dixon (Jennifer), Alyson McGugan (Billy), Mandy Harris (Donnie), Brad Dixon (Tiffany), and Brian Dixon (Lisa); and 6 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by sons, Jerry R. Dixon and David Wayne Dixon; sisters, Carolyn Munn and Bernadine Saunders; and brother, Lloyd Taylor.
