Obituary of Wade Cauthen Ghent

LANCASTER, SC ~ Mr. Wade Cauthen “W.C.” Ghent, age 75, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Friday, September 7, 2018. He was born April 28, 1943 in Lancaster, a son of the late Joe E. Ghent and Martha Cauthen Ghent and the husband of Maureen “Sissy” Evans Ghent. Mr. Ghent enjoyed camping, eating and socializing, masonry work, and spending time with his grandchildren. 

Mr. Ghent is survived by his wife Sissy Ghent; a son, Mark Ghent (Lisa); a daughter, Angela Ghent Bailey (Billy); three grandchildren, Scotty Bailey and his fiancée, Crystal, Jessica Bailey and Cassie Blackman (Brandon); five great grandchildren, Austin Bailey, Lexi Blackman, Graham Blackman, Ainsley Hinson, and Alyssa Hinson; two brothers, Ronnie Ghent (Gay) and Manny Ghent (Terri); a sister, Martha Jo Walden (Buddy); a brother-in-law, Plowden Cooper; and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Ghent was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Norman Ghent; and a sister, Joyce Cooper.

The Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Mr. Ghent will be 11:30 am Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Hwy., Lancaster, SC.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be made to Alzheimer’s Association National Headquarters, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601or to Providence Care Hospice, 1736 Old York Rd, York, SC 29745.

The Ghent family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Providence Care Hospice and Tim Burch, a very special care giver.
