Obituary of Simon Stradford, Sr.

ELGIN – Funeral service for Simon Stradford, Sr., 61, will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Camden.  Burial will follow in Cedar Cemetery in Camden.  The Rev. George Council will officiate.  The family will receive friends Friday 5-7 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff.

    Mr. Stradford passed away at Providence Health on Friday, December 7, 2018.  Born in Camden, he was the son of Mary Jenkins Stradford and the late John “Mook” Stradford.  He retired from truck driving and was a former basketball coach.  He enjoyed playing chess.

    Surviving are his wife, Lillie Council Stradford; mother, Mary Stradford of Camden; daughter, Elizabeth M. Stradford; sons, Simon Stradford, Jr. and John E. Stradford; sisters, Mary “Susie” Stradford and Janie “Missy” Burgess; brother, Elliott “Boo” Stradford; and 3 grandchildren, Quiana L. Halley, Zora S. Stradford and Autumn R. Johnson.  He was predeceased by a brother, Johnny “Sampson” Stradford.
