CAMDEN – Funeral service for Ruth Iva Mintz, 85, will be held Saturday 2:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, with burial to follow in Lugoff First Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Ernest Barnes will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Foundation. Mrs. Mintz, wife of the late Alec Beverly Mintz, died Wednesday, October 24, 2012. Born in North Cove, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Edna Head Biddix. She worked for KMART and was a member of Columbia Freewill Baptist Church. Surviving are her children, Margie Williams of Camden, Charles Biddix of Kinston, N.C., Alanna Gail Hunnings of Spruce Pine, N.C., Cheryl Gregersen of Camden, Ronnie Mintz (Mitzi) of Columbia, Michael Mintz (Tina) of Bristol, Tenn., and Dawn Jarrett of Columbia; sisters, Ethel Simmons and Sherrill Branham; brother, Ralph Biddix; grandchildren, Tommy Williams (Tammy), Shelley Streeter (Layne), Stephen Thibault, Amanda Jarrett (Travis), Jessie Jarrett (Brittany) and Cody Mintz; and great-grandchildren, Ashley Williams, Brittany Williams, Thomas Williams, Chandler Williams, Carson Williams, Mackenzie Williams, Alex Palyok, Ava Jarrett and Liam Palyok. She was predeceased by a brother, Carl Biddix; and sisters, Pauline Smith and Ruby Davis.
