I had a good cry over Sister Connell last night. I don’t know what made me think of her but I know that the next time I’m in Camden on a Sunday & attend the Camden Ward, her presence will definitely be missed. To me, she was like The Camden Ward Mother. She taught me so many valuable lessons throughout my life, whether in Sunday School or from 7th grade English at Camden Middle School a million years ago. She was the first to encourage my creative writing, & her smile & hug could turn even the worst day around. She was quite a woman, & I’m going to miss her.

Izzie Connell was one of our family's favorites of all time. She was a grand, caring teacher and the epitome of a fine Christian lady is all aspects of her like. God smiled as he opened His arms and welcomed her home last week. Praise His holy name!He truly blessed all who knew her, allowing her presence to brighten our world. Her memory will be deeply instilled in all of us. May the Lord grant you all peace and may happy memories of her sustain you.

(we were both cheerleaders) but where she excelled the most was cheering on her family, students, friends and noteworthy causes!! No doubt, we will hear her cheers from the other side as she shouts words of encouragement to each of us!! No doubt, she will be heard singing with The Heavenly Choir the praises to her God and King whom she worshipped and adored!! Izzy was so faith filled! She never shrunk from duty. She persevered!! She loved and recognized beauty in all things...she adored her flowers! And now finds herself in the most glorious of gardens with her Savior!! Her mind was keen but she was humble to the core appreciated everything. She loved learning and now her keen mind will be enlightened and added upon...as far as forever is!! My tribute to her is feeble and inadequate..but her memory will never fade. Her light is extraordinary...nothing about her is "ordinary" to me. Her love surrounds me in the deep loss I feel and I am comforted in the sure knowledge she is not far away. I know you will feel that comfort too! I just thank God and feel to shout "Hallelujah!" that I had the distinct honor and privilege of her association and love...Izzy had an abundance of love for each and all of us! Just like The Savior...just like our Heavenly Parents!! Until we meet again, my dear, dear Izzy! May God grant that.

Izzy is a heroine to me, larger than life almost! She could successfully teach anyone almost anything except she never had any success teaching me how to make her "biscuits to die for"...although she tried valiantly, I was a lost cause. But she never gave up on me...or anyone! Her beautiful singing was unabashedly passionate...she sang with all the ferver of her pure heart...it was inspiring!! Izzy always led by example...and what a leader she was!! I have personally witnessed her kneeling in a canvas tent next to a cot virtually all night praying as a raging storm deluged a Girls Camp in the Blue Ridge. And having received inspiration, deliver the tough decision to the girls that a long-awaited rafting adventure would be cancelled. She was magnificent as she stood on top of a high mountain cliff she had previously scouted out the day before for a sunrise testimony meeting of the camp, a spiritual giant! What an outpouring of The Spirit attended that sacred event due in great part to her spiritual preparation and supplication for divine help. Myriad memories flood my mind of all the years and years of stellar service she gave! Izzy's poetic soul was expressed through the many poems, talks, and personal letters she wrote to so many. They are true treasures and glimpses of her magnificent soul! Izzy loved sports and participated as well as cheered c

Our Angel on Earth has returned Home with HONOR-- Great Honor!! There truly are no words that adequately express what she means to me personally and to every one in our family! And what each of you, her greatest joy and crowning achievement, mean to us!! Although I couldn't be there, and the miles have separated us, my heart has been drawn out to each of you in love and prayers for your comfort and "the peace that passes all understanding". And gratitude for all the years and memories we share. Thank you dear family!! You always accepted me as one of the hundreds of "adopted" Connell Family!!

My condolences to all of the wonderful family of Sis. Izzy Connell. She was so beloved by all who knew her. It was my blessing to serve with her in the stake for several years and it was a true joy getting to know her and her family and feel the joy and love that she felt for her Savior and for the Church. She will not be forgotten.

I’m so saddened by this news however I know Mrs. Connell is at home with our Lord....she was my very first teacher in life. Kindergarten at Pine Tree Hill. She absolutely set the course of my life with her nurturing and great care. I remember the first day of school explicitly as I was upset and wanting to go home. She took me in and comforted me making everyday feel like home with her at school. I am forever grateful for the lessons I learned and the gracious loving attention I received. My heart is broken but I know one day we will reunite and once again she will comfort and love me as she has everyone. My deepest prayers & sympathies are with all...

“That the spirit of man passes triumphantly through the portals of death into everlasting life is one of the glorious messages given by Christ, our Redeemer. To him this earthly career is but a day and it’s closing but the setting of life’s sun. Death, but a sleep, is followed by a glorious awakening in the morning of an eternal realm.” -David O. McKay. God be with you til we meet again...

We love Izzy and J.C. and the whole Connell family. In 2006, Valerie was working with J.C. and Izzy in the Family History Library when we got an offer to move to South Carolina. A large reason we were able to accept that offer and move was because Valerie knew that if South Carolina had people like J.C. and Izzy, we could feel at home there. We did.
We loved and admired Izzy's kindness, strong will, generous heart, and integrity. She taught all of us, by example, how to treat each other. Thank you, Izzy Connell.
You are all in our thoughts and prayers. -- Love, John & Valerie Luthy

Joe, Sterling and Ben. I was saddened to hear of the loss of you mother / grandmother. Although I never had the pleasure of meeting her personally, I understand that she was quite the educator, disciplinarian, Christian and a lady. Please except my condolences, but at the same time rejoice in the fact that as believers, you will see her again.

Dear Connell family. I am so sorry to have read of the death of Lois. Please accept my sincere condolences. I would like to share something that I have personally found to be comforting. It is found in the Bible at John 5:28, 29 and Revelation 21:4. May God give you and your family comfort in His promise that soon we will never experience losing our loved ones in death and we will be able to see them again once they are resurrected. With deepest sympathy and warmth of heart.
