Obituary of Jerry K. Walker, Sr.

CAMDEN – A funeral service for Jerry Walker, 70, formally of Jacksonville, Fla., will be held on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. The Rev. David Stratford will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 5-6 p.m. at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in Ponte Vedra Valley Cemetery, Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project.  

    Mr. Walker passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2019.  Born on October 11, 1948 in Danville, Va., he was the son of the late Henry Clay Walker and Frances Eanes Walker. In his youth, he enjoyed playing baseball, playing the guitar, and watching college football. He was an avid Clemson fan.

    Surviving are his children, Jerry Keith Walker, Jr. (Robyn) of Virginia Beach, Va., Angela Halstead (Dusty) of Apollo Beach, Fla., Derek Eugene Walker (Jennifer) of Chesapeake, Va.,  Deena McKnight (Justin) of Fuquay-Varina, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; and a sister, Debra Walker Hughes (Steve) of Camden, S.C. Jerry was predeceased by grandchildren, Ashley and Derek C. Walker; and a brother, Mike Walker.
