Obituary of Horace G. Horton

RIDGEWAY – Funeral service for Horace Gregory Horton, 75, will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Providence Baptist Church, Kershaw, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends Friday 4-7 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff.  Memorials may be made to Providence Baptist Church.

    Mr. Horton passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2019.  Born in Kershaw County, he was the son of the late Richard Evans Horton and Clivie Mae Railey Horton.  He retired from DuPont where he was a member of management.  He was an outdoorsman that enjoyed his wildlife, building bird houses, working in his shop  and loved junking with his wife.  Mr. Horton was an avid University of Georgia football fan.

    Surviving are his wife, Brenda Watts Horton; daughter, Shannon Horton Tidwell (Joey) of Lugoff; step-children, Jason Barrett, Stacey Barrett and Amy Vinson (Mike); brother, Sidney Horton (Phyllis) of Bethune; sister, Robin Kauth of Elgin; grandchildren, Hannah Bradley, Sean, Cole, Bristol, Damon, Gabe, Hailey, Skylar, Logan, Britney, Brandon, Carter, Rhylee, Maddie, and Brantley; and 6 great-grandchildren.
