BETHUNE – Funeral service for James Simon, 84, will be held on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, with burial to follow in Sandy Level Baptist Church Cemetery, Bethune. Mr. Simon passed away at home on Monday, January 6, 2020. Born in Kershaw County, he was the son of the late Moses and Frances Jackson Simon. He retired from International Paper and also retired from Wal-Mart. He was a member of Sandy Level Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Jessie M. Johnson Simon; children, Alphonso Simon Sr. (Annie), Ronnie Simon, Alonzo Simon (Carol), and Janice Simon; sister, Joan Hudson; 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Chover Baskin; and a host of nieces and nephews.. He was predeceased by sisters, Eloise Johnson and Lettie Baskin.
