Obituary of David Ives
CAMDEN – Graveside service for Sidney David Ives, Jr., 75, will be held on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday 12:00 – 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Camden Bulldog Club.
Mr. Ives passed away on Monday, October 26, 2020 at Prisma Health Richland. Born in Camden, he was a son of the late Sidney David Ives Sr. and Mary Genuia Wingate Elliott. A 1963 graduate of Camden High High School, he played on the 1959 Pony League World Series Championship Team. He served in the United States Marine Corp where he played as quarterback on the football team. He also played football for Gordon Military College.
Mr. Ives was the former owner of Mad’s Restaurant and Catering. He was a member of Beulah United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post 17. He formerly was active in the Camden Bulldog Club. He enjoyed golf and tennis.
Surviving are his son, Grant Ives of Horn Lake, Miss.; brother, Charles Ives (Linda); sister, Rosa Ives Serralta; grandchildren, Nicholas Kyle Ives and Casey Lee Ives; great-grandchild, Lola Ives; nieces and nephews, Lee McElveen, Joey Serralta (Alice), Heather Ives Dykes (Duane), Kristian Brett Ives and Robert Marion Sowell (Sandy); and special friend, Juliana Bradley.
