Obituary of Sharlene Jane Crippen

LUGOFF – A celebration of life service for Sharlene Jane Crippen, 69, will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Powers Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Sharlene passed away at home surrounded by her family on Friday, October 30, 2020. Born in Rome, N.Y. to the late Gerald Dean Gray and Mearle and Shirley Jean Wagner Croucher. Sharlene grew up in Taberg, N.Y. and moved to Kansas in 1985. She moved from Lyon County, KS where she lived for 20 years between Reading and Emporia and then to the Lugoff area where she lived for 15 years. Sharlene was a dedicated health care worker throughout her career. She retired from Springdale Health Care in Camden, S.C. where she worked as a Certified Nurse Assistant for 13 years. While residing in Kansas, she was a committed care giver at Holiday Resort Nursing Facility for 20 years. Sharlene was a very cherished lady who lived a simple life. Life was never about her. She lived life for those she loved. It was the love for her girls that was her driving force. Her family was everything to her. She enjoyed her coffee and cigarettes, BINGO scratch off tickets, NASCAR, and Saturday drives with her daughters. Surviving are her children, Becky Crippen of the home, Buffy Voorhees (Donald “Duck” Hagy) of Augusta, GA, Shirley Jo Adame (Allen), of Camden, S.C.; siblings, Virgina Stacy of Cleavland, N.Y., Bill Croucher (Susan) of Burlingame, KS, Tammy Croucher of Westphalia, KS, Pamela Barrett (Alan) of Reading, KS, Craig Croucher (Mi-na) of Reading, KS, Candy Graham (Daniel) of Carbondale, KS; grandchildren, William Divine of Chanute, KS, Elizabeth Powell (Josh) of the home, Bob Weber (Brittany) of Lugoff, Christopher Weber (Lindsey) of Columbia, Mark Buhlinger, Jr. of Lugoff, Elysia Buhlinger of Lugoff, Amber Campbell (Ashley) of Osawatomie, KS, Jessica Voorhees (Never) of Reading, KS, Kyle Voorhees of Augusta, GA, Brandon Voorhees of Emporia, KS, Dylan Hagy of Augusta, GA, Skylar Agin (Meredith) of Columbia, Bryan Crippen of Emporia, KS, Jeffery Garcia-Adame (Jordan) of Columbia, Allen Adame, Jr. of Camden; great-grandchildren, Ellie, Caydence, Quinton, Ellorie, Carlee, Laura, Sebastian, Nevaeh, Louise, Sophia, Drayson, Elliana, Jarrod, Lilliana, Athena, Sora; and many other cherished family members and friends. She was predeceased by her parents; a daughter, Susan Kay Dayton; and a great-grandchild, Destry.
