Obituary of Betty J. Gaines

CAMDEN – A service to celebrate the life of Betty Jayne Barnes Gaines, 68, will be held on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. at Bethel Worship Center.  The Rev. Casey Mills will officiate. 

    Mrs. Gaines passed away at home on Thursday, December 10, 2020.  Born in Camden, she was the daughter of the late Roland James and Nann Lee Wilson Barnes.  She earned an Associate’s Degree in Computer Programming from Central Carolina Technical College.  She was a member of Bethel Worship Center.  Mrs. Gaines enjoyed riding horses, gardening, riding motorcycles and spending time with her grandchildren.

    Surviving are her husband, Johnny Lev Gaines; daughters, Sandra Lee Dixon of Camden and Michelle Newman Williams (Trey) of Camden; and son, Boyd Eugene Parker III of Camden; step-sons, Chris Gaines (Mandy) of Anderson and Charlie Gaines of Anderson; brothers, Roland “Buddy” Barnes, Joey Barnes and Eddie Barnes; sister, Sara Roberts (Earl); grandchildren, Hope Gaines, Dylan Dixon, Jensen Williams, Riley Gaines, Evan Williams, Colton Gaines, Charleston Parker, Abbey Gaines and Boyd Parker IV; and great-grandson, Luke Townes.  She was predeceased by brothers, Billy Barnes, Milton Barnes and Larry Barnes; special aunt, Katie Mae Wilson; and life-long friend, Debbie Brown.
