Obituary of George F. Norman
ELGIN – Funeral services for Rev. George Fredrick Norman, 68, will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The Rev. Wesley Luke and The Rev. Judith Luke will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at the funeral home.
Rev. Norman went home to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, December 19, 2013. Born in Dravosburg, PA., he was a son of the late Vern McClease and Elsie Pearl Foster Norman. Rev. Norman was a member of Elgin Congregational Holiness Church. He was an evangelist who spent countless hours ministering to people in nursing homes, prison, restaurants, and numerous other places.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Betty Lee King Norman; daughters, Christine Mixon (James) of Elgin, Brenda Reese (Gerald) of Lugoff; grandchildren, Melissa Robinson (Shawn), Allen Reese, Kayla Mixon; great-grandchild, Chase Robinson; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Clifford Norman, Ronnie Norman; and a sister, Olive “Pudge” McDowell.
