Obituary of Darrell W. McAvoy

LUGOFF – Funeral service for Darrell W. McAvoy, 81, will be held on Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church with burial to follow in Lugoff First Baptist Church Cemetery.  The Rev. Dr. Charles Everett will officiate.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  Memorials may be made to Bethel Colony of Mercy.

    Mr. McAvoy passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2021.  Born in Wilkes County, Ga., he was the son of the late James Lawrence and Nellie Worthen McAvoy.  He served in the United States Army and owned McAvoy and Son Painting.  He was a faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church where he was an Elder and former Deacon.  He loved reading and studying the Bible and enjoyed yard work.

    Surviving are his wife, Diane Morgan McAvoy; children, Melinda Hall (Larry) of Lugoff, Dennis McAvoy (Karen) of Lugoff, Eric McAvoy (Teresa) of Lugoff, Emmanuel McAvoy (Greta) of Lugoff, Kamela I. Clackum (Chris) of Lugoff, and Darrell McAvoy, Jr. of Elgin; brothers, Barry Dale McAvoy of Covington, Ga., Kerry Weldel McAvoy of Washington, Ga. and James Edgar McAvoy of Hull, Ga.; sisters, Barbara Nell Wolter of Washington, Ga. and Sharon Dubois of Crawfordville, Ga.; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by wife, Verlie M. McAvoy; and brother, Holice Worther McAvoy.
