Obituary of Benny Wayne Moody

Benny Wayne Moody returned to his heavenly family on May 14th, 2021 at the age of 70.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30pm on Wednesday, May 19th, 2021 at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service, beginning at 2:00pm. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. 

Benny was born on March 26th, 1951 in Camden, SC to the late Willie Holmes Moody and Annie Inez (Priester).

Benny was married in Roy, UT, in 1990, and sealed in the Church of Jesus Christ and Latter-Day Saints Columbia Temple in 2014. He is survived by his wife, Rachel (Robertson) Moody, their children, Star Moody, Haley & Thomas Street, Harley Moody & Chase Caulder, granddaughter Astrid Moody, brother-in-laws Gerald Schneidewend & Leslie Scott, and many nieces, nephews, & extended family. 

He is predeceased by his siblings, Willie Holmes Moody (Barbara), Bette Ann McGraw (Willard), Barbary June Schneidewend, and Rebecca Jean Scott.

Benny was a veteran of the Vietnam War in the 2/17th Cavalry 101st Airborne Division and was the top of his class. He was retired from Dupont and worked for both the City of Camden, SC and the City of Logan, UT, but his favorite job was being a stay at home father. Benny enjoyed playing in bands, listening to music, racing at the Blaney Drag Strip, riding his motorcycle, and spending time with his girls. His favorite past times included card games, people watching, and taking care of his many animals.
