Obituary of Iris Marie Baker McDonald

Iris Marie Baker McDonald, 74, of Lugoff, passed away on Friday, October 8, 2021. Born in Bethune, SC, she was the daughter of the late Orie Joseph and Mary Johnson Baker and the wife of the late William Alexander McDonald. Iris enjoyed playing bingo, taking trips to Harrah’s Cherokee Casino, fishing, and camping with her family. Above all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Halsall (Wesley); siblings, Earl Baker and Gayle Baker; grandchildren, Chelsea McDonald, Camryn McDonald, Stephen Halsall, and Emma Grace Halsall; great-grandchildren, Tahj Clark and Kaia Lomack; as well as her two best friends, Brenda and Barbara.

In addition to her parents and husband, Iris was preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm on Monday, October 11, 2021 at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service, beginning at 2:00pm. Burial will follow in Scotch Cemetery, Bethune.
