Obituary of Roy Sullivan
LUGOFF – Funeral service for Roy Woodrow Sullivan, 84, will be held Friday at 1:00 p.m. at St. John’s United Methodist Church with burial to follow in Union United Methodist Church Cemetery, McBee, S.C. The Rev. Michael Leonhardt and the Rev. Barbee Parsons will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday 5-7 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Johns United Methodist Church, PO Box 218, Lugoff, SC 29078 or Union United Methodist Church, 4374 Union Church Road, McBee, S.C. 29101 or a charity of one’s choice.
Mr. Sullivan passed from this life on Tuesday, January 28, 2014. Born in McBee, he was the son of Ernest Gary and Jettie Blackwell Sullivan. He served in the United States Air Force and retired from DuPont after 35 years.
Roy was a Master Tree Farmer. As long as he was able, he planted trees by hand. He loved spending time at the beach, gardening and working in the yard. He was a loving father and grandfather and really passionate about teaching them to work.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Mary Vincent Sullivan; Roy Woodrow “Woody” Sullivan Jr. (Kim) of Lugoff, and Ernest Scott Sullivan (Gabrielle) of Lugoff; three grandchildren, Scottie, Phillip and Tori; and brother, Grady Sullivan (Brenda) of Hartsville. He was predeceased by brothers, Jimmy Sullivan and Ernest Sullivan; and sisters, Kate Kelley and Betty Middleton.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the The Haven in the Summit for the years of loving support and care and to Agape Hospice House of Columbia for the compassion and care they extended not only to Roy but to the entire family the past two weeks.
