Emily made friends in everything she did. I first met her in a water aerobics class she taught. She called me “Terry” for a while. Acoustics at water aerobics were not so good! LOL! As a fellow army nurse we became “fast friends” and paled about together. I remember when she and I went to Philadelphia for one of her college class reunions and I met many her classmates.
We stayed at a “swanky” hotel. The room didn’t have a recliner chair so Emily slept in a lounge chair. During the night she slipped out of chair onto the floor and we had to call security to help get her up. We were both laughing. So much for “swanky hotels!” But it was a great trip and we had great fun and adventures on the road. I miss her! And I close with what Emily always said when parting, God Bless!

I worked with Emily in the mid 1980's. She was kind and compassionate to her patients.
The first and smartest Nurse Practitioner I ever worked with. Funny too. Gave us a big scare when she had a PE. I have nice memories of her. God speed, Emily!

I have many fond memories of Mrs. Thomas, since Tracey and I were friends and classmates at Joseph Kershaw Academy.
In high school, we would have annual staff meetings at Tracey's house. I actually liked these meetings, in part because of the delicious food Mrs. Thomas made, and also because she would let us play "Careless Whisper" ten times in a row! We would also watch Troubles the Jack Russell jump into the air two hundred times in a row. That was one energetic dog!
Mrs. Thomas was even brave enough to host a slumber party for teen girls! We girls played a few pranks on each other. I'm pretty sure Mrs. Thomas only pretended not to notice so we could have our fun.
I was awed by Mrs. Thomas's history as a nurse in the Vietnam war. She was such a strong and courageous woman who survived so much hardship. I'm deeply saddened by her passing. My condolences and love to Tracey and her family.

My sincerest condolences to the loved ones of Ms. Emily, you are in my thoughts and prayers. Ms. Emily was such a beautiful, loving, strong-spirited woman. I am honored and blessed to have had the opportunity to engage with her. I remember war stories, health stories, bureaucratic B.S. stories and Youth VBS stories. It was always a pleasure to encounter her and so gratifying to serve her a perfect steak! We both never knew when to stop talking, LOL, but she had experienced so much. Ms. Emily loved me and my family and always made sure to let us know, a true blessing was she! Rest or party in Heaven, maybe a little bit of both, until we meet again!

I’m so sad to hear about Ms. Emily passing. She was truly an amazing woman that I dream to even come close to comparing to. She was such a special person to my heart. Never met anyone else like her. Anytime I had a bad day, some kind of way she knew and made me feel brand new by the time I would be leaving her home. I’ve been cleaning for Ms. Emily for about 2 years now. She truly cares for her pups and her flowers. Loved cooking! Soo many times I would go in and her cooking away!!! She will be missed oh so much!!! I know there will never be another her on this planet. A true special woman that was sent as a gift from God to so many lives! Prayers with the family.

I was so saddened to hear about Mrs. Thomas's passing. I have so many memories of Mrs. Thomas because I grew up with her daughter, Tracey. We were best friends and I spent many days and nights at their house in Lugoff. My first memory is the wonderful meals Mrs.Thomas would prepare when I spent the night at her house. Dinner and breakfast were feasts fit for a king! I remember the very first horse she bought for Tracey, Shadrack, the kitty, Sir Arthur, and the first Jack Russell, Troubles. Mrs. Thomas went on to breed Jack Russells and I remember meeting new fur members of the family as I got older. Mrs. Thomas loved her fur babies so much, going on to rescue dogs and horses over the years so they could have a loving home. I remember the stories about her time as a nurse spent on the battle fields during the Vietnam war, and the soldiers she saved. She was a strong woman who raised her daughter as an only parent, something that was not as common in the 1970's. I remember her supporting Tracey's dream to show horses, working at the shows to help pay for entrance fees. She ensured Tracey had a great education, first at a private school and then a small private college where Tracey was able to spend a year studying overseas and travelling in Europe. In the later years, I would visit Mrs. Thomas and Tracey and hear about the water aerobics she was teaching, and the mission trips she had taken overseas. The last time I saw Mrs. Thomas was earlier in the summer when I was visiting with Tracey. We practiced social distancing because of the pandemic and her health problems, but as I was leaving her home in Columbia, I walked over to her and she gave me an "elbow bump" as a good-bye. I will always remember that last good-bye elbow bump:)
