LUGOFF – Funeral Services for James Odell Blackwell, 97, will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at New Life Christian Outreach, with burial to follow in Quaker Cemetery. The Rev. Richard Cameron, the Rev. John Mims and the Rev. Donald Goude will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-7:30 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Life Christian Outreach, 411 Hwy 601 S., Lugoff, S.C. 29078. Mr. Blackwell passed away Monday, February 10, 2014. Born in Camden, he was a son of the late Arthur and Ella Knight Blackwell. Mr. Blackwell was a member of New Life Christian Outreach. He enjoyed fishing, water skiing which he was still able to do at the age of 85 and spending time with his family. Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Margaret Goude Blackwell; son, James M. “Jimmy” Blackwell (Debbie) of Camden; daughter, Beverly Stuber (Daniel III) of Lugoff; grandchildren, Daniel Stuber IV (Kelly) of Fort Mill, S.C., Jamie Livingston (Jacob) of Fort Mill, S.C., Benjamin Blackwell (Christa) of Baton Rouge, La., and Roddy Blackwell (April) of Camden; 4 great-grandchildren, Nathan Livingston, Ella Livingston, Luke Stuber and Caden; sisters, Lois Merrell (Willard), Grace Major (Bill) and Ella Mae Hayes (George); and sisters-in-law, Evelyn Blackwell and Dot Blackwell. He was predeceased by brothers, Jack Blackwell and John Collie Blackwell.
