Obituary of Jimmie Monroe Hyman
CAMDEN-Jimmie Monroe Hyman,82, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 8, 2022, surrounded by his family. Born in Pamplico, he was a son of the late Ossie Monroe and Lula Brown Hyman. He served in the United States Navy and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and took an active role in anything the church needed. Jimmie retired from SCE&G as a construction supervisor. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, gardening, and working in his yard. His greatest joy came from summer vacations at Holden Beach and Santee where he spent many summers making beautiful memories with those he loved most.
Surviving is his loving wife of 61 years, Meredith Ann Poston “Merrie” Hyman; sons, Michael Monroe Hyman (Kim) of Ridgeway, Felder Todd Hyman of Lugoff; daughter, Martha Hyman Pullum of North Myrtle Beach; brother, James Earl Hyman (Francis) of Batesburg; grandchildren, Katelyn, Allison (Tripp), Emily, Kala, Ashley (Wesley), 3 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by siblings, Lois Cox, Margaret Parham, and Geneva Gandy.
The family would like to thank MUSC Hospice and the caregivers at The Colonial at Old Camden for the love, care, and support they provided.
Memorial Services for Mr. Hyman will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at Powers Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Mark Hopkins. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service. A private burial will be held at a later date in Fort Jackson National Cemetery.
