Obituary of Farrell Jerome "FJ" Burnell

Camden- Farrell J. “FJ” Burnell, passed away on April 21, 2022 due to natural causes. He was born September 14, 1966, in Lewiston, Maine to parents unworthy of mention.

Farrell enlisted for service in the Marines upon his 18th birthday and realized pretty quickly that he didn't much enjoy being bossed around. So following his discharge two long years later, he decided that running into burning buildings was a better option.

Before venturing out to start his own business, he served on the Fire Department/Rescue in Bridgton, Maine, for a little over ten years. Farrell was a skilled mechanic, an avid builder, and a craftsman who transformed the ugliest of houses into beautiful homes. To his customers, he was a builder, a plumber, an electrician, a landscaper, an excavator, and sometimes an interior designer. In his words, he was a jack of all trades, master of none, but if needed to be fixed, he was your man; he'd "get'er done."

He loved riding motorcycles, camping (after he got talked into it the first time), fishing (for whatever would bite the line), hunting, boating, traveling, and gambling. FJ liked four-letter words (a lot) and often let them fly after a beverage or two, despite his best efforts not to. He was a very proud father who often struggled to ensure his sons wouldn't, a loving husband, and a generous friend.

FJ lived hard, worked hard, and played hard; he always said he didn't want to live to be 100 if it was going to feel like it. He believed that "you should eat what you want, drink what you want, do what you want because life is short and tomorrow isn't promised."

He was predeceased by his loving grandmother, Opal A Osgood; his uncle, Dale L Osgood; and his step-daughter (from a previous marriage) Tobi Jean Cross-Protivinsky.

Surviving are his wife of 24 years, Melissa (Whitehouse) of Camden, SC; two sons, Dylan and Ethan Burnell; two sisters, Cynthia Carr and her husband, whom he loved as a brother Scott Carr of New Hampshire, and Sheila Tibbetts of Fryeburg, ME; two brothers Jay Burnell (and wife Holly) and J.B. (Jerry) Burnell (and wife Shelli); his Aunt, Mary Osgood (widow of Dale L. Osgood); his uncle, Keith (Kim) Osgood of Gray (whom he thought of as a father) wife Sharon, several nieces and nephews, and his sweet granddog with whom he loved to take on picnics, Luna.

As per his wishes, there will be no Funeral Services. In his thick Maine accent he felt that "funerals are a waste of Hahd earned money."

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
