Obituary of Larry Harold Poston, Jr.

Larry Harold Poston, Jr., 75, of Elgin, SC, passed away on Monday, May 9, 2022. Born in Manning, SC, he was the son of the late Larry Harold Poston, Sr. and Lois Millicent Barwick, and the husband of Janice Elaine Geddings Poston. Larry was an active member of Highway Pentecostal Holiness Church and a Gideon. He enjoyed participating in the Royal Rangers program and the Men’s ministries within the church. Larry retired from John Deere as a mechanical engineer. He was a US Army veteran, where he served in Vietnam. Larry was an avid outdoorsman who loved camping, hiking, tennis, and cycling. He also had a passion for cars and photography. Above all, Larry loved his family and his church. He was a generous and caring father, husband, and friend who will be deeply missed.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Poston is survived by his children, Christina “Cricket” Poston (Randy) and Larry Harold “Trey” Poston, III (Kelly); and siblings, Dale Williams (Bobby), Patti McKeown (Terry), and Annette Horton (Dale).

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his grandson, Hampton Lee Collins.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Highway Pentecostal Holiness Church, officiated by Rev. Tim McIver. Burial will follow the service in Greenlawn Cemetery, Great Falls, SC. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00pm on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff.
