Obituary of Lisa Diane Ray Sims
Lisa Diane Ray Sims, 57, of Lugoff, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2022. Born in Camden, she was the daughter of Claude and Ernestine Dowey Ray, and the wife of Teddy James Sims. Lisa was an active member of Pine Grove Baptist Church in Lugoff. She enjoyed reading, gardening, photographing the sunset, and taking family trips to Charleston. She was an excellent cook and a Carolina Gamecock fan. Lisa worked for almost 25 years as the Office Coordinator for MUSC Health in Camden, where she was beloved by her coworkers and patients. She also had a passion for teaching children and often volunteered in various children's ministries at Pine Grove Baptist Church and the Kershaw Church of God. Above all, Lisa was a loving, caring, and devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
In addition to her husband and parents, Lisa is survived by her sons, Andrew Jefferson Sims and Samuel Garret James Sims (Lydia); her brothers, Timothy Allen Ray (Chrissy) and James Preston “Red” Ray (B.J.); and special family friends, John and Lorraine Beekley, Ralph and Vivian Carito, Renee Barfield Catoe, Cliff and Eva Tanner, Laura Davis, and Gaye Kelly.
The family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, September 25, 2022, at Pine Grove Baptist Church, Lugoff, officiated by Rev. Eric Boone and Rev. Dennis Buchanan, former pastor of the Kershaw Church of God. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
