Obituary of Anna Margaret Richardson Mitchell
Camden - A funeral service for Anna Margaret Richardson Mitchell, 84, will be held Saturday, November 19, 2022 at 2:00p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held in Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Kisco, N.Y.
Mrs. Anna Margaret Richardson Mitchell, 84, Matriarch of the Richardson family, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday November 10, 2022. Born in Kershaw County, she was a daughter of the late John and Addie Ford Richardson, and was a stepdaughter to the late Leola Burroughs Richardson.
Mrs. Mitchell worked many years as a domestic concierge and an event coordinator. Besides having a keen eye for finding antiques and her love for cultivating plants and flowers, she was a wonderful storyteller who would captivate family and friends for hours as they listened to her tell tales of the past.
Mrs. Mitchell served as a volunteer at Habitat for Humanity for five years where she utilized her joy of cooking by preparing weekly meals for the employees. She also had the privilege of cooking for the Mayor of Camden, SC and her guests at the Jazz Festival in Charleston, SC. Her pies, cookies, and cakes, especially her coconut cakes, were legendary.
Left to cherish her memories are her children, Lottie Sheppard of Monroe, N.C., Samuel Mitchell of Oxford, N.C., Michael Mitchell (Karen) of Lagrangeville, N.Y.; siblings, Bernice Moultrie, Andrew Richardson, Anise Smith, Shirley Bethea; grandchildren, Nicole Mitchell and Michelle Dawkins; great-grandchildren, Savannah Mitchell and Ernesto Dawkins and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by a son, Robbie Mitchell; her husband Robert Mitchell, and siblings John Richardson, Mackey Richardson, Benny Richardson and Ruth Crim.
