Obituary of Rebecca Marlene Sightler

Rebecca Purvis Sightler, 47, of Lugoff, passed away on December 24, 2022, after a courageous and hard fought 2 ½ year battle with Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer.

Even on her sickest and darkest days, Becky’s only thoughts were of making sure her true pride and joy, Hayden, knew how much she loved him. She also spent a lot of time writing, including recollections of good memories and future advice for Hayden.

She was preceded in death by her son, Austin “Cody” Sightler; and her 20 year old Chihuahua, Little Bit, who was her constant and steadfast companion until his death 3 months ago.

She is survived by her soulmate Robert “Doyle” Jumper; her grandson, Hayden Jones; daughter, Alyssa Stradley; father, John Purvis (Gayle); sisters, Laura Nolasco (Mike) and Rachael Stephenson (Robert); nephews, Robbie Stephenson (Lindsay) and Ryan Stephenson; niece, Ryleigh Stephenson; as well as numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.

The family would like to thank Dr. Wells and the staff at Lexington Oncology, especially her chemotherapy nurse, Noel, for all the care and love they have shown Becky and the rest of the family since her diagnosis.

The family would also like to give their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to her caregiver, Lois, who was so good to Becky and loved on her like her own family.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service, beginning at 1:00pm.
