Obituary of Betty Jean Thompson

Betty Jean Branham Thompson, 90, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, peacefully at home. Born in Kershaw County, SC, she was the daughter of the late, Jim and Iva Cook Branham. She was a faithful member of Lugoff Church of God for many years before transitioning to El-Bethel Community Church in Lugoff, SC with her children for the last two years of her life. Mrs. Thompson enjoyed cooking, helping others, family gatherings and was a prayer warrior.

Left to cherish her memories are daughters, Joyce Carpenter (Mike), Jean Tidwell (Glenn), Janice Baker (Joel) and Kim Anderson (Brian); sons, Roger Thompson (Mary), Boddie Marvin Thompson (Jessica); special daughter, Bonnie Roberts; 23 Grandchildren; 39 Great- Grandchildren; 12 Great Grandchildren; and special friends, Jean Grover, Bill and Evelyn Barnes, Bobby and Nancy Smith, Nancy Dove, and Kathy and Ray Hearon. 

She was predeceased by former husbands, Marvin Thompson and Leamon Thompson; son, Tracy Thompson; sisters, Viola Moak, Katey Boone, and Annie Ruth Young; brothers, H.B. Branham, James Branham, Curtis Branham; and grandson, Skibo Donald Carpenter.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 9, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at El-Bethel Faith Community Church with burial to follow in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, Camden.  The family will receive friends Sunday 4-6 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home.

The family gives special thanks to her best friend Jesus Christ for allowing them 90 wonderful years with Mrs.Thompson, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many.
