Obituary of Rilda Southerlin

ELGIN – Funeral service for Rilda Ida Presnell Southerlin, 86, will be held Sunday, February 26, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, with burial to follow in Greenhaven Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. 

   Mrs. Southerlin, wife of the late Johnny Dean Southerlin, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2023.  Born in Watauga County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Nathan Talbert Presnell and Dollie Ann Hicks Presnell.  She was a member of Elgin Congregational Holiness Church.

    She is survived by 3 daughters, Linda Kilpatrick (Butch) of Elgin, Elaine Dorsey (Tom) of Elgin, and Kathy Southerlin of Camden; 2 sons, Bobby Southerlin (Dawn) of Clayton, N.C. and Kenny Southerlin of Elgin; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of  68 years, Johnny Dean Southerlin; son, Ricky Dean Southerlin; sister, Mary Frances Brassell; and brothers, G. Weldon Presnell, Junior A. Presnell and N. Elda Presnell.
