Obituary of Delray Joan Meyer
CAMDEN- Delray Joan Meyer, 87, of Camden, SC, passed peacefully on March 8, 2023. Delray was born on September 23, 1935 in Rockville Centre, NY to the late Raymond Krispin and Adelaide Seffert Krispin. She was one of three children. A sister, Gaile Krispin Kraus, and a brother, the late Raymond Kirspin. The family resided in Wantagh, NY.
Delray married her loving and devoted husband and love of her life, the late Charles Robert Meyer, on September 24, 1953 and was happily married for 43 years. Delray was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was the kind of mother that chaperoned her kids’ field trips at the last minute, when other parents wouldn’t show up. Always there when needed. She enjoyed painting nature scenes on canvas, which her family cherishes immensely, and mastered creative art and crafting. Delray’s kindness, devotion to family and spunk was like no other. To know her was to love her. Delray ran a successful plumbing and heating business with her husband, Bob. Later, she volunteered with the Ocala Emergency Management Team, receiving numerous awards and certificates during those many years. Delray practiced Moulage, the art of applying makeup on “actors” to simulate real injuries for the purpose of training emergency response teams. Delray was very proud of her volunteer services and so was her family.
Delray is survived by her three children, Glenn Meyer (Toxanne Vicarro Meyer), Gwen Meyer Gruebel (Richard Gruebel), and Grant Meyer (Laura Carnella Meyer); grandchildren, Karl Gruebel (Amanda), Heather Gruebel Ledbetter (TJ), Bryan Meyer (Stephanie), Kevin Meyer, Jared Meyer (Danielle), Desiree Meyer, Austin Meyer and Kayla Meyer; and was a proud and loving GiGi to 6 great-grandchildren, Teya, Sean, Caden, Logan, Gavin and Stella. She was predeceased by a beloved grandson, Devin Meyer.
Delray Meyer will be missed by all who have known her. There will be a Celebration of Life to be announced at a future date. Memorials can be sent to Food for the Soul, a cause which was important to Mom at Food for the Soul, 110A E. Dekalb St, Camden, S.C. 29020.
