LUGOFF - A funeral service for Jerry Glen Gillem, 64, will be held Saturday at 2:00 pm at Powers Funeral Home with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Rev. Bobby Farmer will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Northeast Presbyterian Church, 601 Polo Road, Columbia, S.C. 29223. Mr. Gillem died Wednesday, February 13, 2008. Born in Childress, Texas, he was the son of the late J.B. Gillem and Winnie Gregory Gillem. He served in the United States Army for 12 years and served during Vietnam. He was a security guard with Securitas Security Services in Columbia, S.C. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion Post 17 in Camden. He loved watching movies and going to the flea market. He also enjoyed helping his wife around the house and taking his dog “Buster” for rides in the car. He was a member of Greensburg Separate Baptist Church, Greensburg, Ky. Surviving are his wife, of 6 years, Ruby Pauline Gillem; daughters, Robin Lee of Springfield, Mo., Sue Tettenhorst of Springfield, Mo.; step daughter, Valerie Smart of Cassatt; step son, Stephen Vance of Columbia; brother, Gaylon Gillem of Colorado; grandson Joshua Tettenhorst of Springfield, Mo.; step grandsons, Cory Paisley of Cassatt, Brandon Smart of Cassatt; and step granddaughter, Eva Smart of Cassatt.
