LUGOFF – Funeral service for Joan Ellisor Bowen, 72, will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Sandhill Heights Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Sandhill Heights Baptist Church, 2992 Bowen Street, Elgin, S.C. 29045. Mrs. Bowen, wife of the late Nick Bowen, Jr., died Saturday, May 10, 2014. Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Maxie B. and Carrie Louise Thorton Ellisor. She retired from Palmetto Health Baptist Medical Center. Mrs. Bowen was a member of Sandhill Heights Baptist Church and an avid Gamecock fan. She enjoyed cake decorating, crocheting and most of all spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving are her daughters, Donna Bowen of the home, Tina Bowen of Bolivia, N.C., and Jerry Bowen (Lisa) of Elgin; sisters, Ruby Hunley and Barbara George; brothers, Larry P. Ellisor (Sherrill) and James Ellisor (Hilda); 14 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Peggy Ann Corley; brothers, Arthur LeRoy Ellisor; and sisters, Maxie Ellisor and Evelyn Spence.
