Obituary of Elroy Wesley Dinkins
ELGIN – Funeral Service for Elroy Wesley “Roy” Dinkins, Jr., 58, will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, with burial to follow in Spears Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Joe Youngblood will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriner’s Hospital.
Mr. Dinkins passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2023. Born in Greenwood, he was the son of Elroy Wesley Dinkins, Sr. and Janie Carol Dinkins. He was a carpenter and welder by trade and enjoyed working on cars. He was truly a jack of all trades.
Surviving are his life partner of 28 years, Brenda Hensley; son, Kasey Dinkins of Lexington; parents, Elroy and Carol Dinkins of Elgin; brother, Charles Douglas Dinkins; and sister, Janie Faye Frick (Wayne). He was predeceased by a daughter, Stacey Joyner; brother, James Edwin Dinkins. He is also survived by many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins; and his beloved dog, Star (Girl) and Domino.
