Obituary of Anthony Wayne "Doodle Bug" Wilcox

Anthony Wayne "Doodle Bug" Wilcox, 69, of Lugoff, passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2023. Born in Martinsville, VA, he was the son of the late Donald Leon Wilcox and Zelma H. Collins Wilcox. Anthony was an elite truck driver for over 45 years, winning many nationwide championships and truck rodeos. He was an avid UNC Tarheels fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR. Anthony loved to ride Harley’s, go camping, and spend time at Kerr Lake in NC with his family. He also loved all types of music and even played the harmonica. Anthony had a great sense of humor and could make anyone laugh. Above all, he was a loving father, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed.

Anthony is survived by his daughter, Christina Michele Wilcox (Mark Frongello); his brother, Donald Leon Wilcox, Jr. (Karen); grandchildren, Meghan Leatherwood (Will) and Emily Frongello; and great-grandchildren, Jett Leatherwood and Emerson Pace.

In addition to his parents, Anthony was preceded in death by his step-mom, Anne Fleming Jones Wilcox; his grandson, Mark Frongello; and siblings, Forrest Dale Wilcox, Wayne Jones, and Stan Jones.

The family will hold a time of gathering from 5:30-7:30pm on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Flowers are welcome as are contributions to the American Cancer Society in Anthony Wilcox’s name.
