Obituary of Cynthia Diane Johnson

Cynthia “Cindy” Diane Chambers Johnson, 64, of Elgin, SC and formerly of Jacksonville, FL, passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2023. Born in Eastover, she was the daughter of James Lever Chambers and the late Patricia Ann Smith Chambers. She received her bachelor’s degree and worked as a computer programmer. Cindy enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, and traveling, especially to the beach or the mountains. She was a gifted artist and loved free-hand drawing. Cindy also had a passion for motorcycles, especially Harley-Davidsons. She cared deeply for animals and loved her cats and snakes. Above all, Cindy cherished time spent with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She was deeply sentimental and enjoyed making people smile. Cindy was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing her.

Cindy is survived by her children, D.J. Johnson, Deanna Johnson, Nikki Cook, and Rodney Cook; her siblings, Michelle Gumm and James “Jimmy” Chambers; grandchildren, Talon Johnson, Cierra Johnson, Samantha Johnson, Hannah Johnson, Tristan Johnson, and Destiny Mitchell; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to her mother, Cindy was preceded in death by her daughter, Sylina Mitchell; step-mother, Ruth Chambers; sisters, Patricia Snow and Christy Britt; and grandchildren, Dailyn Johnson and Joseph Mitchell.

The family will hold a private service at a later date.
